Laser Tattoo Removal

We are excited to introduce that we have a new generation- Pico Laser Tattoo Removal at Golden Hour.

We get it, sometimes you want to re-think your ink! Our laser certified Registered Nurse, Stevie will be offering FREE comprehensive consultations to assess your needs and work with you to create a plan to remove your tattoo.

On average, professional tattoos require 6-12 treatments for full removal or 2-4 treatments to lighten for effective coverups. All treatments are spaced a minimum 6 weeks apart. The number of treatments depends on a number of variables (for example: body placement, type of ink, colour etc). Black is the easiest to move but we can effectively target the full spectrum. We use a laser that allow us to target all colours.

See below how our laser targets pigments versus a traditional laser.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The laser emits high-intensity pulses of light that target a specific chromophore—in this case, the ink in the skin—breaking it down into microscopic particles. The body's natural defense mechanisms then work to eliminate these particles through the immune system.

Tattoo removal is a process that requires careful consideration and commitment from the client, as it involves multiple sessions and diligent aftercare to achieve the best results.

  • The treatment can be uncomfortable and is often compared to the sensation of an elastic band snapping against the skin. The level of discomfort varies depending on individual pain tolerance.

We will be thoroughly discussing numbing options at your consultation as you can apply a numbing cream before the procedure- which would be purchased from Golden Hour.

  • During your free consultation, we will determine how many sessions you will need for tattoo removal. We use the Kirby-Desai Scale to help calculate this. This scale, developed by tattoo removal specialists Kirby and Desai, considers six factors to estimate the number of sessions required, aiding you in budgeting for your removal journey.

Skin Type I-VI: Based on your genetic history and how your skin reacts to sun exposure. For example, Type I is very sensitive and burns easily, scoring 1 point, while Type VI is very dark and rarely burns, scoring 6 points.

Tattoo Location: Locations like the head, neck, or face score 1 point because of the immune system's response. Conversely, tattoos on hands and feet score higher as those areas have fewer lymph nodes to clear the ink.

Amount of Ink: Tattoos are categorized as amateur, minimal, moderate, or significant.

Layering/Cover-Ups: If a tattoo has multiple layers, the most recent ink is removed first, requiring more sessions.

Scarring: Any scarring in the tattoo area can impact removal effectiveness.

Tattoo Color: Black ink is the easiest to remove and scores 1 point, while tattoos with multiple colors score higher.

Depending on what your objective is; for complete removal, on average we expect 6-12 sessions but lightening for a cover up may take as little 2-4. The procedure is usually quick and treatments can be performed every 6 weeks.

  • Cost is dependent on the size of the tattoo and placement of the tattoo. This varies between clients and is discussed in depth at your free consultation.

We offer AGLOW membership options and package deals which reduce the price.

  • Healing time and the body's ability to remove ink particles vary for each client. It can take 6 to 8 weeks, or sometimes longer.

This will be discussed during the free consultation and treatment sessions.

  • After each session, we let the skin cool and apply a soothing gel. A protective film, like cling wrap, can be used to prevent friction from clothes and other materials that may irritate the skin.

Recovery time varies but usually requires a few days of healing while avoiding extreme heat, sun exposure, and intense exercise.

Clients must purchase an Aftercare Pack from Golden Hour, which includes important aftercare instructions and products. This pack ensures you have the right information and tools for your skin’s recovery and ink elimination. It’s your responsibility to care for your skin and immune system, but we are here to help with any questions.

  • Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that it will be completely removed, as various factors can significantly influence the overall effectiveness of the removal process.

This is something we take the time to discuss in detail during the complimentary consultation, ensuring that you are fully informed and aware of all possibilities.

There is also the option of lightening tattoos so that they can be covered up. This is a popular request.
